We stock three real ales and a cask conditioned cider, a range that suits our cellar and allows for our beer to be kept in top notch condition. To make sure each pint is served at exactly the right temperature we use a clever bit of kit that keeps the beer at 12 degrees right to the pump. Don’t worry - the cider is much colder!

dartmoor_logo DARTMOOR IPA (£2.60 O.G. 1039 4% ABV) Is our “house beer”, a “highly drinkable amber coloured beer. It has a deliciously smooth thirst quenching taste and subtle hop aroma” according to Simon, the brewer. We like it a lot - great thirst quenching quaffing beer, especially when the weather is warmer. We are lucky enough to have it delivered direct from
the brewery so it’s always in great condition.

bassDRAUGHT BASS (£3.00 O.G. 1045 4.4% ABV) Draught Bass has long been popular in the Westcountry, and we’ve been selling it ever since we bought our first pub in 1976. I must admit that we came close to dropping it towards the end of its ownership with Bass, and through the whole InBev/Coors ownership kerfuffle, especially with rumours of moving production from Burton, but now that Marstons are brewing it, in Burton, the beer seems to have regained most, if not all, its original character and has that ineffable “Bassness”.

royal-oakO’HANLONS ROYAL OAK (£3.10 O.G. 1050 5% ABV) Another beer delivered to us direct from the brewery, and our strongest regular beer. Originally brewed by Eldridge Pope until they gave it up, and rescued by John O’Hanlon and an American company, Pheonix Imports. A proper traditional beer - richly malty with some splendid hops. Be warned though - it slips down very easily and after a few the effect can be a little like being whacked around the head by a plank wrapped in hop vines....Talking of which, we are occaisionally lucky enough to acquire a case of the legendary Thomas Hardy Ale.

Callum & ciderADDLESTONES CASK CONDITIONED CIDER (£3.10 5.2% ABV) A cloudy unpasteurised live cider served from a hand pump. Tastes of apples. Doesn’t need a bucket of ice. It may be made in foreign parts (Somerset) but you can drink more than a pint without being poleaxed or rendered speechless - I love local scrumpy, but I also enjoy the power of speech and locomotion. Also very popular with visiting musicians.
